When you talk about photography, the first equipment that will cross your mind is a camera. However, especially if you are a pro, you will definitely need more than just a camera in your shoots. That said, in the rest of this post, we will quickly list down some of the gears that you might want to consider having.

Regardless of the equipment that you need to get started in photography, if you need to rent them from a reliable company, one of the options that should be on your radar is BorrowLenses.

  1. Lens

One of the most important is the lens. It might add bulk and weight to the camera, but it is a powerful tool that will come in handy when it comes to shooting subjects from a distance. For instance, if you are into animal or wildlife photography, you need a zoom lens to capture the subject even from afar.

When looking for lenses, you will generally have to choose from prime or zoom lenses. Consider what is it that you intend to shoot to determine the right lens for your camera.

  1. Lighting

Lighting is one of the most crucial elements of photography. The pictures can end up being blurred, grainy, or dim without the right lighting. It can also lack character and appeal. While natural light can prove to be great, you also need to invest in lighting equipment. This is especially true if you are going to shoot indoors most of the time.

  1. Battery + Charger

It is important to always have back-up power when you are shooting, especially as a professional. What happens if you are in the middle of the shoot and the camera drains? Will you cancel the shoot? Will you make the client wait while you charge the battery? You should always have a spare battery available, providing an assurance that you will be able to shoot continuously.

  1. External Flash

In line with what has been discussed above about the importance of light in photography, it is also critical to invest in an external flash. This is especially useful if you are using a camera that does not come with a built-in flash. An external flash can be 15 times more powerful than the flash that is built-in in most cameras.

  1. Tripod

Make sure to also invest in a tripod if you are trying to build a career or get serious in photography. The tripod will help to make your shots more stable, which will prevent it from being blurry. If you intend to take time lapses and videos, you will also need to have a reliable tripod. Make sure that it is lightweight enough so that it will be portable.

Especially if you are thinking of starting a photography business, make sure that you invest in the tools that have been mentioned above. If they are too expensive, consider companies offering a camera or video camera rental. Chances are, they also have gears and accessories that you can rent at prices that won’t hurt the wallet.
